What your future may hold
As a member of the legal division of the Euroclear group holding company, you will provide legal advice and support on a broad spectrum of matters, with a focus on (i) corporate & regulatory issues that impact and relate to settlement services and (ii) disputes, (potential) claims and litigation matters.
As a junior litigation & regulatory officer at Euroclear, your main responsibility will be to support the senior lawyers in:
- conducting regulatory analysis, particularly in regard to corporate governance, AML compliance, UN/EU/OFAC sanction programs and embargoes;
- leading and participating in all phases of disputes, claims and litigation files, and regulatory issues. This goes from initial case assessment, investigation, and gathering of documentation to drafting responses to queries, reviewing draft pleadings, following up court cases and reviewing possibilities of settlement;
- closely collaborating with business clients, risk colleagues, other lawyers, other internal business teams (such as corporate secretariat, compliance, product management, operations) and external counsel;
- reporting to senior management on legal risks while providing strategic advice;
- handling and supervising outside counsel on all aspects, ranging from legal strategy to budget;
- detailing the services offered by Euroclear vis-à-vis clients, counterparts, service providers, other Euroclear group entities.
Your skillset
- You hold a Belgian Master’s in Law;
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in litigation and regulatory matters, preferably in a law firm (specialized in the financial sector) or as an in-house counsel of a bank or other financial institution;
- Experience in the financial industry and a post-trade environment is a valuable asset;
- Fluent in English, and Dutch or French;
- You are an enthusiastic professional with the right instincts, a curious and dynamic mindset and are eager to learn;
- A true teamplayer with a warm and approachable personality;
- You are driven to demonstrate flexibility, take initiative, and deliver high-quality, consistent support across jurisdictions in a timely and cost-efficient manner;
- You possess strong analytical skills and have a pragmatic and risk aware approach;
- Your assertiveness and persuasion allow you to defend your views with patience, while your sound judgement helps you express well-founded opinions and understand their implications;
- You are willing to build a solid understanding of the business.
