What your future may hold
As Legal & Compliance Officer, you will become the legal and compliance anchor of the organisation, managing legal matters across the fund platform, portfolio activities, fundraising processes, and regulatory compliance obligations. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will work closely with the investment and operations teams while coordinating with external legal advisors and regulatory stakeholders. This is a broad role with a strong compliance focus and plenty of opportunities to shape processes as the organisation continues to grow.
You will:
- Take ownership of the fund's day-to-day compliance activities, ensuring policies, procedures and regulatory obligations are properly drafted and maintained.
- Coordinate AML/KYC processes, investor onboarding and regulatory documentation.
- Support the preparation and follow-up of compliance reporting and act as an important point of contact for regualory institutions and external compliance partners.
- Review, draft and manage a variety of legal documents, including investment-related agreements, shareholder documentation, service agreements, vendor contracts and commercial contracts.
- Coordinate external legal counsel across different jurisdictions and monitor the quality and consistency of legal documentation.
- Support the investment team throughout investment, follow-on and exit processes from a legal and operational perspective.
- Support fund operations by maintaining shareholder records, transaction documentation and corporate governance files.
- Continuously improve legal and compliance processes by identifying opportunities for greater efficiency (like the use of templates), structure and risk management.
- Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical internal procedures.
- Grow together with the organisation and contribute to the further professionalisation of the legal & compliance function.
Your skillset
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Law.
- Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, financial services, an investment fund, compliance or an in-house legal environment.
- Good understanding of contract law, corporate law and compliance principles. Familiarity with fund structures, investor onboarding, AML/KYC, compliance processes, and/or governance matters is a strong asset.
- Exposure to cross-border transactions and international legal environments is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
- Able to take ownership and accountability in a pragmatic, proactive and solution-oriented way.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced venture capital environment while collaborating closely with colleagues and external advisors.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Able to prioritise operational work while keeping the broader business objectives in mind.
