Stibbe Brussels is a leading law firm in the Belgian market, bringing together over 200 lawyers and business professionals in the heart of Brussels. The firm combines high-quality legal advice with a collaborative culture and an evolving compliance framework.
To strengthen their Risk & Compliance team, they are looking for an experienced Senior Risk & Compliance Officer, who will work alongside the Head of Risk & Compliance and two colleagues.

What your future may hold
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will help implement the firm’s strategy while ensuring reliable day-to-day execution. Your workload will range from routine conflict checks to complex risk assessments and cross-office discussions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the implementation and execution of the firm’s Risk & Compliance strategy, including the implementation of Intapp, the compliance & client onboarding tool. Building expertise in the platform and become a key contact for its use within the team.
- Executing day-to-day compliance checks and processes, including client onboarding, conflicts of interest, KYC/AML, DAC6, market abuse, GDPR and international sanctions
- Providing structured analysis of potential risks and contributing to appropriate mitigation strategies
- Preparing and delivering structured reporting on compliance matters to relevant stakeholders
- Acting as a senior point of reference within the team, providing guidance and supporting the supervision of team activities
- Delivering training and awareness initiatives
- Collaborating with Risk & Compliance colleagues and other relevant stakeholders in Stibbe’s Luxembourg and Amsterdam offices
- Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and efficient execution of the firm’s compliance framework.
You will build your understanding of the regulatory requirements specific to a law firm and establish trusted relationships with the team, partners and lawyers. As the function evolves, you may also interact directly with clients.
Your skillset
- You hold a Master’s degree in Law and have at least four years of relevant experience in a legal and/or compliance environment.
- You have solid, practical knowledge of AML/KYC. You can take ownership of daily compliance work while developing expertise in the wider regulatory framework applicable to law firms.
- You are familiar with the implementation of compliance & client onboarding tools (e.g. Intapp or similar platforms).
- You are process-minded, with strong attention to detail and the ability to improve and structure workflows.
- You combine a hands-on approach with a sense of ownership and accountability.
- You have strong analytical and organisational skills.
- You demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to interact confidently with lawyers and business professionals.
- You are proactive and solution-oriented.
- You are motivated to keep learning and build a long-term career in compliance. You can adapt to changing priorities.
- You are fluent in Dutch, French and English.
